Well, that's pretty much it for April. Some stuff happened, I guess. Pretty average month. Although I did get to play two very awesome games, though.

Oh, right. That's why I liked the Pokemon games when I was younger. Christ, I was playing that thing all frigging day. Had two online battles along the way.

Since I'm slow and lame, I started reading Slaughterhouse-Five today.

WAAAA WEEEEE

I used to play the SNES version of World Heroes 2 all the time when I was a kid. I played many worthless fighting games back then, but this one stands out for being absolutely bizarre while also being generic and stupid. It's the only SF knockoff where you can play as cartoonish versions of Joan of Arc, Rasputin, and Bruce Lee. Plus a Viking, witch doctor, Nazi robot, and football player with the added bonus of being able to recreate the tireless Ninja vs. Pirate showdowns.

Hot Fuzz

It is a very entertaining movie. It parodies cop and action movies perfectly (making everything intense for no reason). Go see it.

So close to finishing Super Paper Mario. Then I guess I'll go to the new Pokemon game on Monday, because the group is also getting it, and Pokemon is way more fun when you have other people to bitchslap, especially now that it's online.

Super Paper Mario report:

Chapter 4 was fun. There were a couple of bits running around in large, confusing areas that made fall short of the greatness of Chapter 3. But the shooter bits (especially the boss) were great. Also, it has one of the most vulgar gags I've ever seen in a Mario game.

I'm rereading Sandman: Season of Mists (which is great, as expected). Only 7 books away from a full collection. And then I go deeper in my search for the great works of Morrison.

NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Super Paper Mario keeps getting better. Chapter 3 starts off really nicely, and ends with an incredibly funny parody that'll go over the heads of anyone who isn't aware of certain types of Japanese games. I also like where the situation with Luigi is heading (it'll probably the most badass he'll ever be, really).

So, I decide to finally start reading Kurt Vonegut's books, and then he dies. WEIRRRRD.

Jesus, I designed the rules for a card game (yep...it's what I do with my free time). I think I actually made something decent this time. Next up: a board game. And then my ultimate goal: writing a role-playing game book. What kind of goal is that? Thanks, Jesus.

A Harvey Birdman game in the Phoenix Wright style? Sweet jesus, it's like a dream. I really hope the shitty developer doesn't fuck it up.

TIE-In

7-11 has Spider-Man 3 cups. They use the same flashy-3D-moving technology as past tie-in cups, and they are the slickest looking of all. Unfortunately, they're like 3 times smaller. I think the Spongebob ones were bigger. So, at $2.50(CDN) a pop, they will likely only be bought by nerds like me.

One of them does have the clearest picture of Venom in this movie we've seen so far.

Here's a fun fact: it includes the third Captain Canuck, a character who was created by two guys from my home town (I knew somebody who knew them, as well). So that's really cool for them. I wish my characters could be in the same comic as Madman...

Easter Candy!

I love Easter candy. But you already knew that. So let's get to business:

Aside from classics like Cream Eggs, Mini-Eggs, and Bunnies, I'd like to add another to the 'essential' category: Reese's chocolate eggs. A somewhat flat egg-shaped chocolate/peanut butter collision that tastes as good as any peanut butter cup. I could eat these things all year round.

Last year I got to experience the weirdest of all Easter candy creations, the Smarties Peanut Butter Egg, which combined Chocolate, peanut butter, and Smarties in ways I never thought imaginable. Well, this year, I can't seem to find that monstrosity again, but I did find it's slightly less interesting kin: The Smarties Chocolate Egg. It looks pretty much the same as the peanut butter one, but without the peanut butter and with the regular blue Smarties packaging colour. I haven't tried one yet, but I may before Sunday.

I would generally avoid Eggies, the poor man's Mini-Eggs. Especially since there are not one, but three brands of Mini-Eggs this year: the 'classic' variety, the Pop Rock-filled ones (which I believe I mentioned earlier), and the all-new dark chocolate variety. There's something for everyone (except people who don't like mini-eggs, who will henceforth be called Heretics).

More to come, hopefully. There is a whole aisle filled with this stuff to be explored.

I miss having Flash. It allowed me to make so much. And without it, there is so little I can use to make...things.

And I, like many many other people, am calling The Master appearing by the end of the new Doctor Who season, which just started Saturday.
